PostDoc in model-data synthesis using data from ecosystem manipulation experiments

The Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena is looking to recruit a PostDoc (f/m/d – 2 years full time, with the possibility of extension) specialising in model-data synthesis to utilise observations from a field-scale, multifactor (Temperature-Precipitation-CO2) manipulation experiment in an Alpine grassland ecosystem to investigate and evaluate simulated feedbacks between soil and vegetation processes.

The specific tasks for this position are:

  • Lead an international model-data synthesis study on the ClimGrass experiment (in the context of the DFG-funded ClimGrassHydro Project coordinated by the university of Innsbruck, Austria);
  • Apply the QUINCY model (Thum et al. 2019, GMD) developed by the Terrestrial Biosphere Modelling group of the BSI department in the project;
  • Lead and contribute to publications in international scientific journals and represent the research group in national and international meetings This position also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of new ideas and model formulations regarding the interactions of soil and vegetation processes in the QUINCY model.

Review of applications will begin on the 30th of September 2020. Web-based interviews are foreseen to take place end of Early-Mid October 2020.
